Match Reports, League Positions, etc

Match reports for the last few weeks are below:

25th November 2007  Hythe and Dibden U14 v Hythe Strikers

Well after a few weeks off and 2 more broken bones (we must hold the record this season thats 5 lads through the season with casts on I think they must like the young nurses at the General). Anyway today was the local derby both sides were evenly matched we were one nil down then S Sherlock put one to the back of the net before the first half whistle. The second half our boys put up a good fight when they scored again but we came back with a goal from B Lawrance and 3rd goal by K Bibb. Well done lads 8 games and 8 wins and half way through the season you did hythe & dibden proud today as you do in every game. You had two very happy managers today winning this game. Donna

6th October 2007
 3 - Hythe & Dibden B VS Alresford Town - 5

This was the first home game for the Hythe boys and it was a great chance to bag three important points but they did not have it easy as Alresford had a cracking start to the match. Alresford were 0-3 just within 15 minutes. Hythe held their heads high and T-Hardy used his speed and agility to out pace Alresford’s defence to make it 1-3. Phew moments after K-Patel used his skill to take on three defenders to slip the wet ball in the goal; Richard the manager was pleased, as the score now was 2-3. Just minutes after Alresford came back with an immediate response to double their lead.

Richard had a moment of relief when K-Patel netted a well-taken penalty. Closing minutes of the first half and Alresford were awarded a free kick. Alresford’s kick taker stepped up to put in a brilliant delivery into the box for the striker to net. The score at the end of the first half was 3-5.

After the break, things were not looking good for Hythe but they kept on battling to provide goal-scoring opportunities. Meanwhile Alresford kept fighting until the end to keep their well-deserved lead. Hythe were awarded another penalty. K-Patel stepped up again to take the spot kick but the keeper read the striker and made a decent save. Last ten minutes Hythe’s centre Mid J-Petty created a number of goal scoring opportunities but the Alresford defence stayed tight. A brilliant through ball from      J-Petty gave K-Patel the chance to blast the ball for one last time but it just bounced of the near post.

It was a brilliant game where both teams played hard but fairly.

C-Whitemore had a fantastic game in goal and was awarded Man of the match form Hythe’s point of view, Well done to him and the rest of the boy’s.

23rd September 2007 U14 Hythe and Dibden v Fawley Falcons.
This was a game we were all looking forward to. The boys wanted to do well asgainst them and they did. Right from the start we had Fawley on the run the boys had the pace and the passing was out of this world. It was a good team playing out there today all working together and talking. We were 4 nil up at half time and then won the game 10 nil. Parents had to keep making sure our goalie was still awake. He did get to touch the ball twice. Goals were coming from all parts of the pitch. Well done to u14 boys you kept Fawley on the run as they weren't an easy team and you do get to take training for the next 2 weeks as promised by Ray and Harvey if you get 10 goals.

23rd September 2007 Hythe and Dibden U11A

Fawley Falcons  0 – 30 Hythe & Dibden A

Yes 30 (thirty) goals to nil which may be some kind of record. Division 2 side Hythe & Dibden A made the short trip to play Division 6 side Fawley Falcons who started with a 2 man disadvantage due to lack of numbers. Hythe & Dibden took an early lead when a cross from Kyle P deceived the defence and keeper with an awkward bounce and crossed the line. A minute later the score was doubled when Jamie S's left foot shot just crept over the line. In a one way first half goals were added by Ryan B, Nathan W, Ryan McI, another from Jamie S. Sammy O’R and Tom B also both helped themselves to hatricks. With the score at 14 -0 at half time the Hythe & Dibden manager, Kev Penny played the second half with 9 players in rotating positions but the goals kept coming with Ryan McI helping himself to a quick hatrick and hatricks were also completed by Ryan B and Nathan W. Goalkeeper George S was replaced in goal by Connor O’H and George helped himself to a goal and left back Jack W bagged a couple with one spectacular shot going in off the cross bar. Sammy O’R was on fire and finished top scorer with 8 goals. More chances were missed and the Fawley keeper made some good saves to prevent yet more goals. Connor O’H and Jack Hl both went close but were the only players without a goal. The final goal scorers were Sammy O’R (8), Tom B (5), Ryan McI (4), Ryan B (3), Nathan W (3), Jack W (2), Jamie S (2), Kyle P (2) and one for George S.

2nd Sept 2007 HDYFC Under 14's
Good first match of the season for the u14s with a 4-3 win againgst Wyvern. The boys have been training really hard to get this first game out of the way. They dad a good start to game in which Wyvern kept catching up on goals but with a couple of minutes to go we scored again to make it 4-3 after a lines man decision which the ref overruled, allowed the goal that won us the game. There was a good and well deserved three points.

2nd September 2007 - Hythe and Dibden Under 11 A v Testwood U11 4-0
This game saw the start of the season for U11A's in the 2nd Division of the Tyro. Hythe made a good start scoring in the early stages of the first half. Testwood to their credit gave a good performance and often threatened with pace against a Hythe defence that took a while to settle. Hythe seemed to be on good form when they went 2-0 up, but Testwood continued to push, scoring to make it 2-1 before half time. For the Hythe boys it seemed a little nervous as Testwood threatened to come back into it. The half time instructions seemed to see the defence feeling more comfortable and Hythe started to drive on creating pressure which resulted in a further two well worked goals. The Hythe team had numerous chances to get more goals but equally Testwood threatened several times themselves. A competetive game with no quarter given it was a credit to both sides to see it conducted in good spirit with no conflicts.
